Following the decision by the CERN Management Board (see Weekly
Bulletin 38/2003), registration of all computers connected to CERN's
network has been enforced and only registered computers
are allowed network access.

IMPORTANT:
your CERN registration must be
validated in the Human Resources (HR and CRA) databases BEFORE
you can proceed to the laptop registration. You must contact
your secretariat
to perform this and check that all your data in the HR database
have been validated (including your office, phone number, etc.) You may have to wait
one or two day after the HR
registration before all data
are validated. Please note:
You can only register the laptop when you see that all your data
are fully correct in the CERN
phonebook (on NICE or XWHO on the
web). If some data are missing (e.g. your office or phone)
please check with the secretariat (you may need to wait one day
for the validation after data are registered by the secretariat).

• If the name of the computer appears in the search
result, click on it
to see the
registration
details. Verify that the information is correct. Update/complete
the information as necessary. Make sure that ALL network
interface cards you use (Ethernet
and wire-less)
are registered.
